International Archaeology Day

Organized and hosted by Community Connections LLC in partnership with Colorado Preservation Inc.

Community Connections LLC is hosting and organizing International Archaeology Day (IAD 2023) on October 21, 2023, from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM at the Lower South Lot #2 at Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado.

Do you require special accessibility accommodations? We're delighted to announce that, thanks to the generous support of our partners at Colorado Preservation Inc and the State Historic Fund, we will have on-site American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters available for this event!

  • Free Admission: This event is free for all attendees, making it accessible to everyone interested in archaeology and history.

  • Exhibitors: Expect a variety of exhibitors showcasing demonstrations, hands-on activities, and informational displays related to archaeology, history, and cultural sites in Colorado and worldwide! This provides a unique opportunity to interact with experts and learn more about our rich heritage.

  • Guest Lecturers: The event features guest lecturers who will speak on various archaeological topics. This is a chance to gain deeper insights into the fascinating world of archaeology and its importance in understanding our past.

  • Cultural Tours: Free guided tours of cultural sites and museums are offered, allowing participants to explore and learn about these important locations firsthand. Site tours, include the Buffalo Bill Museum, Roxborough State Park, Lamb Spring Archaeological Preserve and Red Rocks Park! Space is limited!

  • Food: Items from Native Grill and A Lady in the Wild food trucks will be available for purchase on site during the event.

  • Beverages: A small beer garden with a historic braggot and cream ale for guests 21+ will be available from Brewery Rickoli. Root beer is available too! All proceeds from the beverages will go to benefit Colorado Preservation Inc, a 501c3 nonprofit organization.

International Archaeology Day 2023

Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre, Lower South Lot #218300 W Alameda Pkwy, Morrison, CO 80465 | Saturday, October 21st, 2023, from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM

  • Professional speakers on history and archaeology.

  • Face painting for the kids!

  • Food and beverages on site from local vendors.

  • Nearby cultural locations will provide on-site tours and activities in conjunction with the event. These auxiliary sites will include Roxborough State Park, Lamb Spring Archaeological Preserve, Buffalo Bill Museum and Grave, a tour of Seven Ladders Rock + the Civilian Conservation Corp Camp at Red Rocks Park.

  • Multiple government, corporate and professional agencies participate in International Archaeology Day.
