This community engagement event highlights the archaeological work completed for the grant funded project, Donkey Kong, in Pueblo County, Colorado. A "mini campus” on the property called TheMoonBass will be hosting STEAM activities in the upcoming future with "Digging into History" as one of its first events!

Come excavate like a real archaeologist and see what artifacts you can find!
Artifact Station
An artifact station with REAL artifacts from the Buffington archaeological site will be set up so you can personally touch items over 100 years old!


Survey like an Archaeologist!
What do archaeologist's do in the field? Come with us on a short activity to learn how archaeologists survey and map an archaeological site.
Historic Literature
Historic maps and documents about the Buffington's (like this newspaper article) will be copied and laminated so that you can explore history just like an archaeologist!


Piece Together "Artifacts"
We'll have a fun activity that shows you how archaeologists can sometimes piece together artifacts from the field!
